Visentin Named to National Junior Team Development Camp

June 22, 2010

IceDogs Goaltender Mark Visentin was one of four goaltenders named to Canada's National Junior Team Development Camp.

IceDogs Goaltender Mark Visentin was one of four goaltenders named to Canada's National Junior Team Development Camp, after being one of nine goaltenders competing for the spots at Hockey Canada's Goaltending Camp last week.  The camp will take place in St. John's, N.L. in August with exact dates to be announced.

Visentin will be the only OHL goaltender at the Development Camp and one of two 1992 born goaltenders at the camp, along with top rated 2010 draft prospect goalie Calvin Pickard.

The camp selection is another testament to the strides made by Visentin in his second season and kick starts what will be an exciting week for him, with the Visentin getting ready to head for the NHL Draft in Los Angeles, which begins Friday.

Visentin was ranked fourth by Central Scouting among North American Draft Eligible goaltenders in their final rankings, but beat out third ranked goaltender Kent Simpson for an invitation to the Development Camp, showing just how close those two goalies skill levels are.

The IceDogs would like to congratulate Mark on his selection to the Development Camp and wish him all the best both at the camp and at this weekend's upcoming NHL Draft.
