Mark Visentin posted his third shutout of the season as the Niagara IceDogs defeat division rival Mississauga 3-0 on Thursday night.
Both goaltenders were strong in the first period, as Visentin and J.P. Anderson blanked their opponents through twenty minutes. The shots after the first period were 9-6 in favour of the IceDogs.
The game would remain scoreless until the final minute of the second period when Billy Jenkins would get Niagara on the board, beating Anderson blocker side. Milan Doudera earned an assist on the play for his second point in three games. Visentin would make seven more saves in the period.
The IceDogs would keep the momentum coming out of the break, extending their lead to 2-0 on a Dougie Hamilton wrist shot that found the top corner of the net. Alex Friesen would add a late power play goal to ice the game and seal the two points. David Pacan picked up two assists in the period.
Mark Visentin made 24 saves in total for his third shutout of the season.
The Niagara IceDogs will now travel to Kingston on Friday to face the Frontenacs, before heading to Ottawa on Sunday.
