The Niagara IceDogs, in partnership with the Niagara Regional Police Foundation, are pleased to announce that their 1st annual Teddy Bear Toss will be taking place at their home game on Friday, December 14th when they host the Barrie Colts. Game time is scheduled for 7:30pm with doors opening at 6:30pm.
Fans are asked to bring new and used bears to the game on December 14th and when the IceDogs score their first goal, everyone will be encouraged to throw the bears on to the ice. Following the game, the bears will be collected by the Niagara Victim Crisis Support Services who will in turn donate them to children involved in crisis or tragic events. The N.V.C.S.S. is an independent organization that works in conjunction with local police, fire, and paramedic crews to assist with those in need. “The Teddy Bear Toss is an annual tradition held at rinks throughout the Canadian Hockey League during the holiday season” said Jon Kursikowski, IceDogs Director of Community Relations. “The IceDogs are very excited to bring an event of this nature to the Niagara Region as it provides an opportunity for us and our fans to assist a very worthy organization and give back to the local community. We anticipate having a great crowd on December 14th and strongly encourage everyone to bring as many bears as they can to donate to this great cause.”
Tickets for any IceDogs home game can be purchased at the Customer Service Desk at the Pen Centre, through the IceDogs office at 35 Queen Street in St. Catharines, or via Ticketmaster.
