The Niagara IceDogs were able to hand the Sudbury Wolves their seventh consecutive loss, as they were sparked by Andrew Shaw's three points and six different goal scorers on their way to a decisive 7-3 win.

Sudbury took to the power play in the opening minutes of the game when Freddie Hamilton's clearing attempt sailed over the glass, where the Wolves were able to cash in the all important first goal thanks to a Daniel Maggio blast from the point.

The IceDogs were able to answer back moments after a Sudbury penalty had expired, as Matt Petgrave wristed one from the point that trickled through the legs of Wolves goaltender Alain Valiquette making it 1-1 at the 9:23 mark.

The Wolves power play was able to stay perfect as Jared Staal walked in from the left point and ripped one through Visentin making it 2-1 at the 13:20 mark.

The lead was short lived however, as Andrew Shaw was able to take a beautiful pass from Andrew Agozzino who put it over the shoulder of Vailquette to even the game at two.

The IceDogs took the lead thanks to a spectacular effort by Alex Friesen, where he won the faceoff to the left of Vailquette and slid it over to DeSousa who hammered it into the open net making it 3-2 Niagara.

The IceDogs kept the first period siege alive as Andrew Shaw set up Freddie Hamilton who tapped it into the yawning cage for Niagara's third goal in 4:51, giving them a 4-2 advantage after an eventful twenty minutes of play.

Niagara was able to tack on another 8:14 into the second frame, when Jay Gilbert threw one at the net that hit Mitchell Theoret before floating into the top corner giving the IceDogs a 5-2 advantage.

The IceDogs got another solid start from Visentin, who made 13 second period saves giving Niagara a 5-2 advantage heading into the final frame.

Sudbury was able to close the lead to 5-3 in the opening minutes of the third period when John Kurtz spun beat Visentin on the power play at the 2:42 mark.

The IceDogs weren't about to allow a third period meltdown to occur, as Friesen outraced Maggio to a loose puck and rifled it fivehole on Valiquette to restore the three-goal advantage for Niagara.

The Niagara power play was able to get off the schnide thanks to a Reggie Traccitto shot from the point that made it 7-3.  The goal with the man advantage was the IceDogs first in six games.

The IceDogs are idol for four days before welcoming the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds on Thursday, October 22nd at 7:30 PM.  Niagara then hits the road to take on Erie and Brampton prior to hosting the Barrie Colts on October 29th.  Tickets are available for all home games and fans are encouraged to support the IceDogs as they enter the meat of the regular season.
