Simila Part of Team Finland at World Juniors

Niagara IceDogs Goaltender Petteri Simila is currently in Saskatchewan taking part in the IIHF World Junior Championships as a part of Team Finland.

The Finnish Junior Team saw their first action of the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championships on Sunday and IceDogs goaltender Petteri Simila was on the bench as the backup goaltender for the victorious Finnish squad, who opened their schedule with a 4-3 come from behind victory over the Czech Republic.

Simila, who is in his first season with Niagara, is one of two OHL players and four CHL players on the Finnish team which will next see action today (Monday) vs. Russia at 6pm. 

Finland will also see Round Robin action on December 30th vs. Austria and December 31st vs. Sweden. 

The game on December 31st vs. Sweden will be broadcast on TSN, with puck drop scheduled for 2pm.

The Finnish team will then be hoping to move on to the Medal Round of the tournament of which begins January 2nd.  The top three teams in each five team pool advance to the Medal Round, with the bottom two teams taking part in the Relegation Round.
