The San Jose Sharks have selected IceDogs forward Freddie Hamilton with the 129th overall pick in the 5th round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Hamilton recently completed his sophomore year with the Niagara IceDogs, where he recorded 25 goals and 55 points and with +6 rating in 64 games. Hamilton’s rookie season was also successful, as he managed to tally 10 goals and 18 assists with only 8 penalty minutes in 65 games.
Known for playing a composed, finesse style of hockey, Hamilton’s smooth hands and accurate shot allow him to excel in both the goal scoring and playmaking aspects of the game.
He plays a strong game in both the centre and wing positions, and has been called upon by the IceDogs to log ice time on both the penalty kill and power play. Hamilton is able to make his presence known on the ice while managing to stay out of the penalty box, having accumulated only 20 penalty minutes in nearly two full OHL seasons.
Freddie Hamilton is sure to be one of the key players for the IceDogs this coming season.
The IceDogs would like to congratulate Freddie on his selection and look forward to seeing him at camp in August!
