Phoenix Coyotes Select Mark Visentin 27th Overall

June 25, 2010

The Phoenix Coyotes have selected IceDogs goaltender Mark Visentin with the 27th pick in the 1st round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft (27th overall) with a pick acquired from the Montreal Canadiens.

The Phoenix Coyotes have selected IceDogs goaltender Mark Visentin with the 27th pick in the 1st round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft (27th overall). Phoenix traded the 22nd overall pick to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for the 27th overall and the 57th overall pick (27th pick of the second round). Montreal also received the 113th overall pick (4th round).

Visentin recently completed his second season with the IceDogs, having accumulated a G.A.A. of 2.99 and a save percentage of .911 with a record of 24-26-0-5.  He also picked up CHL Goaltender of the Week and OHL Player of the week honours over the course of the season.

For his efforts, Visentin was selected to participate in the CHL Top Prospects game, where he was the only one of the four goaltenders to not allow a goal, all while facing a game high 19 shots.  Efforts like that saw Visentin climb the central scouting rankings, from 8th among North American goaltenders, all the way to 4th in the final rankings.

Visentin was also recently named to the Canadian World Junior Development Camp in August where he will be one of four goaltenders competing in the camp, in the first step towards picking the 2011 Canadian World Junior team.

The IceDogs would like to congratulate Mark on his selection and look forward to seeing him at camp in August!
