The Niagara IceDogs next action comes on Saturday night, November 13th at 7:00 PM against our divisional rivals the Sudbury Wolves. The Dogs will look to carry the momentum they gained from their impressive 5-4 victory over the Western Conference leading Saginaw Spirit on Thursday night .
Saturday night's game will also be Movember Night at the IceDogs. We encourage all fans, young and old to wear their moustaches (authentic or fake) in support of Movember and the fight against Prostate Cancer.
For those of you unfamiliar with the Movember concept here is an explanation:
Movember challenges men to change their appearance and the face of men’s health by growing a moustache. The rules are simple, start Movember 1st clean-shaven and then grow a moustache for the entire month. The moustache becomes the ribbon for men’s health, the means by which awareness and funds are raised for prostate cancer. Much like the commitment to run or walk for charity, the men of Movember commit to growing a moustache for 30 days.
The funds raised through Movember’s Canadian campaign go directly to Prostate Cancer Canada which enables them to fund vital research that will led to better screening tests and treatment options and to run support services for men surviving prostate cancer.
As you may have noticed several of the IceDogs players, staff and business staff have been sporting a different look this month and it is all in support of Movember.
Not only do we encourage you to wear your moustache to tomorrow night's game but we also encourage you to visit the Movember promotion table in the main concourse to donate to the cause. The Movember promotion table will be staffed by our friends from the Niagara Falls Fire Department who are also sporting some fancy moustaches of their own. By donating at the game tomorrow night you will receive a voucher for a $15.00 ticket to be redeemed for one of the following IceDogs home games: November 20th vs Ottawa, December 4th vs Kitchener, December 9th vs Mississauga, December 17th vs Barrie or December 31st vs Erie.
If you cannot make it to the game on Saturday night there are other ways to donate to the Niagara IceDogs Movember Team. To check out the Niagara IceDogs Team Movember page and to donate online, please visit http://ca/movember.com and search for the Niagara IceDogs.
You can pledge to any of our players who are participating in the Movember campaign including: Steven Shipley, Mike Schwindt, Tim Billingsley, Mitchell Theoret, John Chartrand and Simon Gronvaldt or to members of the Niagara IceDogs staff including Assistant Coach- Billy Burke, Assistant General Manager- Joey Burke, Equipment Manager- Garry Buxton, Food and Beverage Manager-Ron Doi, Ticket Manager-Wade Graham, Media Relations Intern-Jeff Blay and Account Executive Nick Williams. So far the Niagara IceDogs Movember Team has raised over $1200.
You can also donate to one of the Firefighters who are out helping to promote Movember Night with us by visiting the Movember site and then searching for the Niagara Falls Professional Firefighters Association. So far the Niagara Falls Firefighters have raised over $3,700 dollars.
We hope to see you and your Mo's tomorrow night at the game, cheering on your Dogs while supporting a great cause.
