IceDogs fall 7-2 against division rivals Barrie Colts

The IceDogs scoring spree was bound to come to an end sooner or later and it did tonight against the Barrie Colts. After dominating opponents in back to back wins, scoring a combined 17 goals, the IceDogs ran out of gas against the high flying Colts in a 7-2 defeat.

It was the IceDogs who got themselves on the board first, as forward Luca Caputi netted his team leading fifteenth of the season to give the IceDogs the 1-0 lead after the first period.

However, the momentum swung in favour of the Colts in the second period, with goals scored by Ryan Gottschalk, Shawn Frank, and Vladimir Nikiforov to give the Colts a 3-1 lead after two.

Defenceman Drew Schiestel of the IceDogs got his team within one scoring at the 11:24 mark on the power play, but this is as close as the Dogs would get. The Colts blew the game wide open scoring four goals in a span of seven minutes to defeat the IceDogs 7-2. Colts goals were scored by Adam Payerl, Cory McGillis, Andrew Clouthier, and George Lovatsis.

The IceDogs outshot the Colts 40-26 but strong goaltending by Andrew Perugini was the difference in the game, as he stopped 38 of 40 shots he faced.

With the loss, the IceDogs fall to 12-8-0-0 on the season and into a tie with the Barrie Colts atop the Central Division. The Dogs look to get back on track Sunday November 11, 2007 as they host the visiting Windsor Spitfires at 2:00 pm at the Gatorade Garden City Complex. Fans are reminded that tickets for this game and all other IceDogs home games can be purchased at the Customer Service Desk at the Pen Centre or by visiting www.ticketmaster.ca.
