Niagara IceDogs General Manager Dave Brown announced today that the IceDogs have traded their 2010 1st Round OHL Import Draft pick to the Saginaw Spirit in exchange for the Spirit's 3rd round pick in the 2010 OHL Entry Draft and their 2nd round pick in the 2012 OHL Entry Draft.
The trade helps the IceDogs continue to build up draft picks, which they will be able to use to build for the future.
In addition, Brown announced that Jason Shaw has been reassigned to Burlington, where he will join the Junior A Burlington Cougars.
Shaw has played in 17 games for the IceDogs so far this season, his rookie season, registering 16 penalty minutes in those games.
"Jason Shaw is still a young kid and we are definitely hoping he will be a part of this team in the future" said Brown. "He has done a good job for us, doing everything that has been asked of him, including filling in on the back end when we needed him, but he isn't getting as much icetime with us as we would like. By sending him to Burlington, he will have a chance to get some more icetime and continue to develop his game, so he can help us in the future. We would like to wish Jason all the best in Burlington and look forward to seeing him back again in the future."
