The Niagara IceDogs continued their strong start with a convincing 4-0 win over the Saginaw Spirit in Saginaw on Friday night.

The first period saw the IceDogs carry the play outshooting the home side 16-6, but Saginaw starter Jake Paterson and IceDogs starter Christopher Festarini were both perfect as the teams headed into the intermission scoreless.

The IceDogs turned things on even more in the second and Mike Robinson would score his second career OHL goal and second in as many nights to open the scoring early in the second, giving the IceDogs a 1-0 lead.

Niagara would keep the offense rolling as Anthony DiFruscia continued his strong play, scoring less than five minutes later to extend the lead to 2-0. Brook Hiddink would then keep the rookie scoring going for the IceDogs, striking for his first career OHL goal and sending Niagara into the second intermission up 3-0.  Shots after 40 were 37-14 in favour of the IceDogs.

The third period would see Steven Shipley score his third of the season to make it 4-0 and Festarini would take it from there, picking up his first shutout of the season in a big 4-0 road win for the IceDogs. Final shots favoured Niagara 46-25.

With the win, the IceDogs move to a league best 5-1 and they will wrap up their weekend on the road by heading to Plymouth to visit the Whalers tomorrow night.  Be sure to catch all of Saturday's action and every game night live on 610 CKTB!
