The Niagara IceDogs were able to mount a thrilling comeback win in overtime on Sunday afternoon, as Freddie Hamilton and Alex Friesen had two goals each to down the Brampton Battalion 5-4.

Friesen's overtime winner was an intended pass that went off the skate of Matt Clark, and the IceDogs erased a two-goal Brampton lead thanks to a few markers that included a penalty shot goal by Freddie Hamilton.

Patrick Killeen started 13 of Brampton's first 14 games, and he was able to stand tall for the Battalion by shutting down a few IceDog power play opportunities early in the contest.

The IceDogs power play was able to connect on their third chance, when Chris DeSousa's shot was kicked out by Killeen before bouncing directly off of Alex Friesen and into the net, as Niagara took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

Brampton was able to draw even early in the second period, when Cameron Wild was credited with the power play marker making it 1-1 at the 5:04 mark.

The IceDogs power play was able to light the lamp for the second time when Andrew Agozzino went hard to the net and tapped home his 10th of the season, as he took a beautiful pass from Andrew Shaw giving Niagara the 2-1 advantage.

Shots in the second period were dead even at 10 apiece, as the IceDogs tried to improve on their 3-0-1 record when leading after two periods, holding a 2-1 advantage heading into the final frame.

The Battalion didn't take long to deadlock the game at two, as Sean Jones took a bouncing puck and put a move on Visentin just 30 seconds into the third period, notching Brampton's second power play goal of the game.

Brampton looked as if they took their first lead of the game when Craig Moore gloved the puck in the crease before going into the net. After the goal was reviewed, it was ruled that it hit a Niagara player before going in, making it 3-2 in favour of Brampton.

Sean Jones gave the Battalion a two-goal cushion by taking advantage of a Niagara turnover and going in on a breakaway before beating Visentin over the blocker, making it 4-2 at the 7:08 mark.

The turning point in the contest came when the IceDogs were awarded a penalty shot when Matt Clark covered a puck in his crease, allowing Freddie Hamilton to walk in and undress Killeen making it 4-3 at the 14:29 mark.

With Visentin on the bench, Matt Petgrave hustled back and broke up an empty netter allowing the IceDogs to score on the ensuing shift after a scramble in the crease ended with Freddie Hamilton tapping it in with 20 seconds remaining, as Niagara headed to their fifth overtime contest of the season.

Visentin made his best save of the game in the opening moments of the overtime session, as he stretched out and made a spectacular left pad stop on Scott Tanski.

The save proved to be game-saving, as the overtime winner would come minutes later when an Alex Friesen pass went off a Brampton defender and past Killeen, giving the IceDogs a thrilling 5-4 win.

The IceDogs will now prepare for three games in three nights, starting on Thursday when they welcome the Barrie Colts at 7:30 p.m.  Fans are encouraged to dress up in their Halloween costumes with prizes being awarded, with the first 100 kids through the door receiving a gift bag from the Bulk Barn.
