The Niagara IceDogs have selected defenceman 17-year-old Milan Doudera in the second round, 77th overall, of the 2010 CHL Import Draft.
Doudera is a 5'11", 185 lbs. native of the Czech Republic who spent this past year with HC Klando U20 accumulating four goals and nine assists for 13 points from the blueline in 33 games. He also spent one regular season game and one playoff game with HC Klando U18, where he accumulated two assists.
Doudera was also a member of the Czech Republic's U17 team this past year, where he played in 5 games, accumulating two penalty minutes as the Czechs finished the tournament with a 1-3-0-1 record on route to a 9th place finish in the tournament.
The 1993 born defenceman is eligible for the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
"The word on Milan is that he is a highly skilled, offensive defenceman who skates well and can move the puck." said IceDogs General Manager Marty Williamson "Being from the Czech Republic, we don't know a ton about him, but we certainly hear positive things about his game."
In his profile for the World U17 hockey challenge, Doudera is described as a very good skater with offensive upside, who has excellent instincts around the puck, doesn't give up much defensively, has a good shot, is great on the power play, can throw the body and battles well in the corners and in front of the net.
Doudera joins fellow defenceman Simon Gronvaldt as an IceDogs Import player and his selection fills the import spot of Marco Insam, who graduated from the OHL after completing his overage season this past year.
