It is with deep regret that the Niagara IceDogs announce the passing of John Harrison, father of Niagara IceDogs president Denise Burke.
John passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, February 3rd, after a courageous 18 month battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 78.
Loving husband of Jean (nee Baker) for 55 years. Cherished father of Blane and Dawn Harrison, and Denise and Bill Burke. Dear Papa of Billy, Joey, Brett and Kurt. Much loved brother of the late Doug Harrison and his wife Joan, Deloris and the late Johnny O'Connor.
John served in the United States Air Force, following that he had a successful career in the steel business and retired from Valley Blades Ltd. in 2001. During his retirement years, he lived to support his beloved Niagara Ice Dogs.
John's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines, Ontario on Monday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday at 11am in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be held at Parkview Cemetery in Waterloo on Wednesday at 11am.
