IceDogs Fall 5-1 in Kingston

Sep 27, 2013 - 21:41 GMT

The Niagara IceDogs fell to the Kingston Frontenacs by a score of 5-1 in Kingston on Friday night.

The first period saw the IceDogs fall behind 4:13 in as Kingston would open the scoring, making it 1-0.  The IceDogs would pressure Kingston throughout the middle part of the frame, but would be unable to find the back of the net and it would be Kingston would score the games second goal, stretching their lead to two scoring with just under five minutes remaning in the period to make it 2-0.  It looked like the teams would head into the intermission with that same score, but Kingston would score again with just 1.2 seconds remaining in the period to send the IceDogs into the intermission down 3-0.  Shots after 20 minutes were 13-7 Kingston.

The IceDogs would come out strong in the second and would finally be rewarded for their efforts as Brendan Perlini would put one home in front to cut the IceDogs deficit to 3-1.  The strong start to the period would continue for the IceDogs as they looked to bring the score within one but, despite their efforts, it would be Kingston that would score next, just past the midpoint of the frame, to make it a 4-1 game.  That would prove to be the score after two as the IceDogs headed to the 3rd down 4-1.  Shots after two were 20-16 for the home side.

In the third, the IceDogs would look to cut into the Frontenacs lead, outshooting Kingston 12-8 in the period, but it would ultimately be Kingston that would score the only goal of the period, making it a 5-1 final.  Final shots were all even at 28-28.

The IceDogs will look to bounce back tomorrow night when they travel to Belleville to take on the Bulls at 7:05.  Be sure to catch all the action live on the radio on 610 CKTB or on television on TVCogeco and cheer on your IceDogs!
