The Niagara IceDogs fell to the Brampton Battalion 6-4 on Veteran's Day.
Niagara took a quick lead in the first period, as defenceman Milan Doudera beat Brampton netminder Matej Machovsky just 1:07 into the game. The goal was Doudera's first of his Ontario Hockey League career. The Battalion would answer with two goals to send the game into the first intermission leading 2-1.
The IceDogs would score three goals in the second period, including two just eleven seconds apart, to retake the lead. Dougie Hamilton, Ryan Strome and Steven Shipley all converted for the IceDogs, while Freddie Hamilton collected two assists in the frame. Brampton would add another goal late in the period to cut the IceDogs lead to 4-3 heading to the third period. Mark Visentin made nine saves to preserve the lead.
Niagara was unable to solve Machovsky in the third, firing eight shots on the Czech goaltender. Brampton would find the net three time in the final period, defeating the IceDogs 6-4.
The IceDogs will now return home to host the Windsor Spitfires on Saturday night at 7:00pm.
