IceDogs Acquire Archibald and McGrath

December 8, 2010

The IceDogs have acquired Darren Archibald and Dalton McGrath from the Barrie Colts in exchange for John Chartrand, a 5th round pick in 2012 and a 10th round pick (Guelph's) in 2011.

The Niagara IceDogs have acquired overage forward Darren Archibald and goaltender Dalton McGrath from the Barrie Colts in exchange for goaltender John Chartrand, a 5th round pick in the 2012 OHL Priority Selection and a 10th round pick (Guelph's) in the 2011 OHL Priority Selection.

Archibald is in his third season in the Ontario Hockey League, having spent his entire OHL career with the Barrie Colts up until this point.  The overage left winger was third on the Colts in scoring with 30 points, having accumulated 18 goals and 12 assists in 24 games so far this season.  Overall, the Newmarket native has accumulated 69 goals and 69 assists for 138 points, to go along with 118 penalty minutes and a plus 30 rating in 149 career regular season games.

In McGrath the IceDogs acquire a 1991 born goalie who has a career record of 8-1 in 9 career OHL starts, all last season with the Colts.  In those 9 games, McGrath accumulated a G.A.A. of 2.78 and a save percentage of .916.

In return the IceDogs send the Barrie native back to his hometown after having spent his first two years in the OHL backing up Mark Visentin.  In 16 career starts Chartrand has accumulated a 6-8-0-2 record with a 3.68 G.A.A and an .879 save percentage for the IceDogs.

The IceDogs would like to welcome Darren and Dalton to the organization and wish John all the best in Barrie!
