Niagara IceDogs General Manager and Head Coach Marty Williamson announced today that defenceman Simon Gronvaldt has been traded to the Belleville Bulls in exchange for a conditional draft pick in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection.
Gronvaldt played in 84 regular season games as an IceDog in his year and a half with the team after being acquired from the Barrie Colts at the trade deadline during the 2009/10 season. In those 84 games, Gronvaldt picked up two goals and 20 assists for 22 points to go along with a +17 rating. In addition he played in 19 playoff games as an IceDog, accumulating a goal and four assists with a +7 rating in those games.
"We would like to thank Simon for his contributions to the IceDogs during his time here" said Williamson. "It was just a case of us wanting to give Simon a better opportunity, as it was going to be tough here with us having so many overagers for next year. We wish him all the best in Belleville."
The entire IceDogs organization would like to thank Simon for his efforts and wish him all the best both in Belleville and throughout the rest of his career.
