Former Niagara IceDogs Captain Michael Swift has been named Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending March 21st. Swift, who is in his second season as a forward for the Lowell Devils, had five goals and two assists for seven points to go along with a plus-four rating in four games this past week.
Swift was held off the scoresheet in Portland on Tuesday night, before scoring one goal in Lowell's 4-2 loss to Providence on Friday night. Swift would then tie his career high with three points in a 3-2 overtime win over Portland, scoring both of Lowell's goals in regulation, before assisting on the overtime game winner. He would then equal that three point effort on Sunday as he enjoyed a two goal, one assist performance, scoring twice in a span of 1:09 in the second period and adding an assist in the Devils 6-5 shootout loss to Worchester.
With the seven points on the weekend, Swift now has 19 goals and 46 points in 67 games so far this season, placing him second on the team in points, and third in goals. This has been a breakout sophomore season for the Peterborough native, after notching 12 goals and 15 assists in 52 AHL games for Lowell in his rookie season last year.
The entire IceDogs organization would like to congratulate Michael on his achievements and wish him all the best for the rest of the season and beyond.
