Niagara IceDogs defenceman Dougie Hamilton wasl presented with the Ivan Tennant Memorial Award for top academic high school player this past Wednesday at the OHL Awards Ceremony.
The awards ceremony is took place in the MCI Great Hall of the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. The presentation of the award capped off a busy and successful rookie campaign for Dougie, who is the third straight IceDog to win the Ivan Tennant Memorial Award, following in the footsteps of his older brother Freddie who won the award last season and Alex Friesen who took home the award in 2007-08.
Hamilton compiled an average of 98% at Governor Simcoe Secondary School, where he enrolled in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, English, Health for Life, and a Grade 12 level Functions course where he has a perfect 100% grade.
