Niagara IceDogs Rookie Defenseman Dougie Hamilton was named to the OHL's All-Rookie Second Team on Thursday after a great rookie campaign.
The 16 year old St. Catharines resident performed admirably, logging a large amount of ice time as he was asked to take on all situations, all while adjusting to life in the OHL. Hamilton responded extremely well to the responsibility given to him posting 3 goals and 13 assists for 16 points in 64 games to go along with some solid defensive play.
Hamilton was also a finalist for the league's Emms Family Award for the OHL's Rookie of the Year, which went to Peterborough Petes forward Matt Puempel.
Hamilton is the first Niagara IceDog to be named to an OHL All-Rookie Team.
