Niagara IceDogs defenceman Dougie Hamilton has been named the Ontario Hockey League's Defenceman of the Month for October.

Hamilton had a very impressive month, registering 7 goals and 13 assists for 20 points, to go along with a +2 rating and 14 penalty minutes.  The 9th overall selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft (Boston Bruins) has become a leader for the Niagara IceDogs team, both on and off the ice.

On the radar for Team Canada at the upcoming IIHF World Junior Championships, having attended the Team Canada Summer Development Camp, his strong play to start the season will only help his chances of making the team in December.

The Niagara IceDogs organization would like to congratulate Dougie on his achievement and wish him the best of luck moving forward.
