Caputi Recalled to Penguins

January 5, 2010

Former IceDogs forward Luca Caputi has been recalled to the Pittsburgh Penguins from their AHL affiliate the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Former IceDogs forward Luca Caputi has been recalled by the defending Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins from their AHL affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

The call-up will be Caputi's second stint in the NHL, with his first lasting 5 games last season, before he was sent back down to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.  In his time with the Penguins last season, Caputi got off to quite the start, scoring on his first NHL shot, during his first NHL shift in his NHL debut Febuary 3rd against the Montreal Canadiens.  The accomplishment made Caputi the first Penguin since Mario Lemieux to pull off the feat.

The 21-year-old left-winger has been enjoying a very good season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, accumulating a team leading 13 goals to go along with 13 assists, for 26 point in his first 36 games.
