Niagara IceDogs Captain Andrew Agozzino was spectacular in the OHL All-Star Classic, scoring an All-Star record four goals and adding one assist as the Eastern Confernce defeated the Western Conference 17-10 in Kingston last night. Having both set the goals record and tied the points record for a single All-Star Classic, Agozzino was named Eastern Conference Player of the Game for his efforts.
The victory was the Eastern Conference's fifth straight over the Western Conference and came after Western Conference Captain Ryan Ellis of the Windsor Spitfires commented that he thought the Western Conference looked a lot better than the East and that he thought it was pretty clear that the West would win both events. Agozzino and the Eastern Conference had different thoughts.
"Playing in the East - we're a bit of an underdog with the guys in the west always thinking they're better," Agozzino said. "We didn't let anybody know but we took that to heart. We were playing to win."
While the last couple of days in Kingston were light hearted and fun for all the players and fans involved, Agozzino does not have much time to rest, as he will be returning to Niagara to join the IceDogs as they play host to Nazem Kadri and the Midwest Division leading London Knights in St. Catharines tonight.
Game time is scheduled for 7:30pm and there are still single seats and standing room available for tonight's game. Get your tickets now and don't miss your only chance to see Leafs first round draft pick Nazem Kadri and his London Knights in their only trip to Niagara this season.
Tickets for this and all other IceDogs home games can be purchased at any IceDogs ticket location. For more information, please call the IceDogs offices at 905-687-DOG1 (3641).
